Short Biography

Paula Brusky won the Endeavor International Postgraduate Research Scholarship and was the first candidate awarded a PhD in Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.  While in Australia, Brusky was principal bassoon with the Sydney Chamber Orchestra and freelanced, playing with Colleguim Musicum Choir, Sydney Philharmonic Choir, Sydney Youth Orchestra, and Symphony Australia, as well as performing numerous solo and chamber concerts.   Previously Brusky completed a Master of Music at Indiana University and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University.  She has studied with Andrew Barnes, Kim Walker, Arthur Weisberg, and Dennis Michel.  Brusky's passion for bassoon playing and dedication to academia culminates in her teaching.  Her research into performance-related musculoskeletal disorders is altering the bassoon pedagogy.
