Movements for Bassoon & Piano
Stefan Cwik has written a truly wonderful new work for bassoon! These 6 movement show the versatility of the bassoon and are extremely fun to play! I’m extremely honored to have been able to premiere this work at the University of Memphis Double Reed Festival on January 21, 2012. Subsequent performances included: University of Texas Austin and Stephen F. Austin State University. The video below is from the SFA performance with Geneva Fung on piano.
Little Sarabande for Viola & Bassoon
Justin Henry Rubin wrote this cute piece for Eliza Thomason and myself. We premiered the work at the University of Texas Austin on January 24, 2012 then took it on tour to Texas Lutheran University, Stephen F Austin State University, and Houston.

Program Notes: Outside my San Francisco apartment window seemingly unrelated sounds fade and pan. Street traffic, parks, fog horns, rain, emergency sirens, pedestrians, freight ships; they all seem to create their own counterpoint. At first this resonates as an overwhelming cacophony without focus or purpose. Yet once heard with amenable contentment the variant sounds are given the chance to condense into accord. “Mist” is a duet for bassoon and track where the solo instrument and prerecorded sounds are given equal importance. It has been written for and dedicated to Paula Brusky, the premiering bassoonist.

This lyrical new work was written by Guilherme Schroeter. I premiered the work with Chuck Dillard on January 24, 2012 at the University of Texas Austin.
